Charity & Outreach
Our parish has many and varied activities. The Assumption Council of Catholic Women (ACCW) sponsors several activities throughout the year, including a yearly Mass, days of recollection, craft and bake sales. Some of these women assist on a regular basis with funeral lunches. Help in serving the grieving families a meal after the funeral Mass is always appreciated. Every other year, Assumption sponsors a garage sale, usually in the spring.
The Antone Guild supports Dominican Sisters of Hawthorne who minister to the terminally ill residents of Our Lady of Good Counsel Home in St. Paul. Volunteers make bedding, collect health and beauty aid samples, raise funds for medication and host an annual Boutique. Members of Young at Heart gather in St. Joseph’s Hall monthly to pray the Rosary, have lunch, play cards and have fun. Our famous Caramel Rolls are sold throughout the year. Anyone is welcome to join the dedicated group of volunteers who bake them the night before and sell them after weekend Masses.
Dedicated Ushers & Greeters welcome parishioners and visitors before Mass. Hospitality Volunteers serve coffee and cookies after Mass to encourage fellowship.
For our younger members Assumption has had a long tradition of welcoming the Cub Scouts. We also have an active and growing Youth Group that meets weekly.
Our annual Fun Fiesta is held on the Sunday in August preceding the Feast of the Assumption, and is our parish’s largest fundraiser. All kinds of food
are served, from our famous roast beef sandwiches to enchiladas and roasted corn. Entertainment, ranging from Polka to Mexican Music is also featured.
