Hispanic Ministry

Since February 5, 2001, when the first Mass in Spanish was celebrated
at Assumption, the Latino community has grown to become an important and valued part of the parish. This community comprises about 80% of Mexican heritage and the remainder from Central & South America and the Caribbean. Just as when German settlers came to the Richfield area more than a 150 years ago, Assumption parishioners have worked hard to welcome these new immigrants and to make them feel at home here. To better serve the increasingly diverse community that is our parish family, 80% of the parish staff is bi-lingual/bi- cultural. MIRA, an agency that serves the linguistic, legal, familial, physical and psychological needs of this growing and diverse community has become an integral part of our parish.
